After years of feedback from customers and quiet development, we officially launched a powerful new set of advanced analytics features during our May 7th launch event.
This release marks a major milestone in our mission to make Business Intelligence (BI) accessible to everyone. We call it DIY BI (Do-It-Yourself Business Intelligence): the idea that anyone, regardless of technical skill, can explore data, find answers, and improve performance without relying on complex tools or a busy data analyst.
In case you missed it, here’s a quick recap of what we launched:

Dataset: Build a custom table of raw data optimized for analysis

As your business grows, so does the complexity of your data. You’re no longer just tracking metrics like total revenue or sessions – you’re comparing performance across product line, region, lifecycle stage, and more.

Datasets give you the control to prepare and structure your data for this kind of analysis.

    With Datasets, you can:

    • Create custom tables of raw data from popular integrations like HubSpot, GA4, Stripe, and more!
    • Filter your data by the conditions that matter to your analysis.
    • Rename columns or change data types to standardize and organize your dataset.
    • Merge multiple datasets using a common identifier, like email, to bring all relevant context into one view.
    • Use formulas to create calculated columns that track business-specific metrics.
    • Export your dataset to CSV or build custom metrics from it for use in dashboards and reports.

By preparing your data in advance, your team can work with clean, standardized data that everyone can trust.

Improved Metric Builder: Build custom metrics with multiple dimensions

A common request we heard from users was for a simpler way to manage custom metrics. Many were creating the same metric multiple times, just to analyze it by different dimensions – like country, source, or landing page.

The improved Metric Builder changes that. Now, you can save multiple dimensions within a single custom metric, so you only have to create it once!

    With this improvement, you can:

    • Add multiple dimensions to a single metric, instead of creating separate metrics for each view.
    • Break down and filter your Databoards using the dimensions already saved in your metric.
    • Keep your account organized with fewer metrics to manage.

As your reporting grows, the improved metric builder makes it easier to keep your account organized while also giving you the flexibility you need when analyzing data on your Databoards.

No-Code SQL Builder: Build custom metrics from SQL (without knowing SQL)

Until now, creating metrics from a SQL source meant writing a custom query for each one – a time-consuming process that required technical expertise.

The no-code SQL builder changes that.

Now, if you’ve created a dataset from a SQL source, you can build custom metrics without writing a single line of SQL.

With the no-code SQL builder, you can:

    • Create custom metrics faster by selecting your value, dimension, and date from a dropdown menu.
    • Save and reuse these metrics across Databoards, Reports, and goals.
    • Enable non-technical users to work with SQL data independently.

As your data infrastructure grows, this update makes it easier for more team members to access and work with SQL data.

Drill down to row-level data: See the details behind a metric

High-level metrics—like revenue, churn, or website sessions—give you a quick view of overall performance. But if revenue suddenly drops or churn spikes, they don’t provide enough detail to help you understand what’s driving the change or what to do next.

Now, when analyzing your Databoards, you can click on any metric built from a dataset to instantly view the row-level data behind it.

    With drilldowns, you can:

    • Click into any number or chart to investigate a spike or drop in performance.
    • See the exact rows of data behind the metric to understand what’s driving the change.
    • Identify the specific deals or customers influencing performance, so you can take the right action.

It’s the fastest way to get context on a metric, without leaving your Databoard or creating a separate report.

Master filter: Break down and filter Databoards by any dimension

Instead of creating separate Databoards to analyze performance by different countries, campaigns, sales reps, or lifecycle stages, you can now build a single Databoard and switch between these views with one click.

With the master filter, you can:

    • Break down and filter an entire Databoard by dimension, like country or customer type.
    • Filter your view to focus on a specific value, such as “US” or “Enterprise”.
    • Break down and filter individual Datablocks when you want to tailor a certain view.

This makes it easier to compare segments, spot trends, and get the answers you need—faster.

Dataset integrations: Access more data & segments

We’ve reworked our most popular integrations to support faster syncing and give you access to more data, so you can do more advanced analysis. These integrations are now marked with a “Dataset” tag in-app.

With these integrations, you can now:

    • Create datasets so your analysis is always based on clean, trustworthy data.
    • Drill down to row-level data to explore the specific records driving performance changes.
    • Access more entities and segments so you can build reports that reflect how your business actually operates.

These dataset-supported integrations lay the foundation for advanced analysis, making it easier to understand performance across your entire business.
